Saruni Samburu

Spectacular eco-lodge and wild safari in the stunning Samburu

Saruni Samburu is not only one of the most spectacular lodges in Kenya; it is founded on the protection and restoration of nature and is run in collaboration with the local Samburu community.

Why we love Saruni Samburu:

  • The magical view over Samburu's beautiful bush to Mt. Kenya
  • Wild safari in a private and stunning reserve without other guests
  • Diverse experiences, from game drives to bush walks and warrior school for the little ones
  • Built on an exemplary tourism model with a focus on local communities and nature conservation
  • The colorful and hospitable Samburu people

Saruni Samburu is the only lodge in the 240,000-hectare Kalama Conservancy, owned and operated by the local community. The lodge funds the maintenance and operation of the reserve through park fees and land leases.

Kalama Conservancy borders Samburu National Park, where game drives are also available. However, only Saruni Samburu has access to the exclusive wilderness of Kalama.

An aesthetic gem

Saruni Samburu is built to blend in perfectly with the rugged cliff landscape. There are only six cottages, four of which can accommodate families. Two swimming pools are artistically built into the landscape.

Wildlife

It is not uncommon for leopards and wild dogs to roam on the lodge's grounds.
