Cardamom Tented Camp, Koh Kong

Unique eco-camp deep within the Cardamom Mountains

Welcome to the jungle and a truly wild experience. Nestled in a clearing between Botum Sakor National Park and the Cardamom Mountains, you will find Cardamom Tented Camp. This eco-camp offers an exhilarating and magnificent adventure while caring for the environment and the communities you visit.

Cardamom Tented Camp has been purposefully built with a clear mission, and you will encounter the phrase "your stay keeps the forest standing" multiple times.

The camp was established to provide the local communities with an alternative to logging and poaching, thus preserving nature and the diverse wildlife instead of depleting it.

"Real deal" wilderness with wildlife surrounds you

The camp is situated on 18,000 hectares (180 km2) of land in a strategically important location. It serves as an elephant corridor, connecting the two national parks of Botum Sakor and the Cardamom Mountains, ensuring the free movement of elephants.

In addition to elephants, the area is home to leopards, bears, wild dogs, and gibbons. However, it is important to note that the rainforest is dense, and there is no guarantee of spotting the animals.

But it is actually not the wildlife that is the main reason for visiting this place.

Deep within the rainforest - intimately close to nature

Cardamom Tented Camp offers a magical, raw, and authentic experience. You are far off the beaten path - about an hour's boat ride from the nearest road. You arrive along the banks of the Preak Tachan River, where the camp is nestled. Here, untouched wilderness, silence, a starry sky, and the scents of the jungle await.

But you must venture further - deeper into the jungle.

The camp works closely with the nearby Trapeang Rung Commune and Wildlife Alliance, allowing you to embark on ranger-guided hikes and explore the lowland evergreen rainforest. Learn to track animals, set up and evaluate camera traps, and monitor and assess the park's natural resources.

Glamping tents and an atmospheric camp vibe

Even though you are in a remote location, you still get to enjoy relative comfort in one of the nine safari-style tents. They feature comfortable beds and bathrooms with hot water; each tent also has a cozy terrace. On-site, there is a small restaurant for meals. The camp aims to minimize its environmental footprint, employing solar panels and using minimal electricity. As a result, there is no air conditioning, but you will not miss it in this area. You have everything your heart desires right at your fingertips, and above all, the camp exudes an enchanting atmosphere that is an experience in itself.

Your stay keeps the forest standing

Cardamom Tented Camp opened in 2017 as an initiative by Minor Group, YAANA Ventures, and Wildlife Alliance, intending to preserve the land and its biodiversity. As part of this commitment, rangers are employed to protect the area.

A percentage of the camp's revenue directly supports Wildlife Alliance and its conservation efforts in Botum Sakor and the Cardamom Mountains. Any additional profits are reinvested locally. Wildlife Alliance and the local community are essential to preserving the area in the short and long term.

This is why they mean it when they say, "Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing." Your visit to the eco-lodge generates revenue to operate and maintain the 18,000-hectare area, keeping it out of the hands of loggers, poachers, and sand mining. Your stay actively contributes to research, protection, and conservation of the existing nature reserves.
